La crise de l'État providence a donné naissance à un nouveau modèle de gestion socialedans lequel la communauté est appelée à jouer un rôle important. L'article analyse lessignifications contemporaines de la communauté dans les politiques sociales et dans lesmouvements sociaux en les reliant aux stratégies mondiales, nationales et locales et auxstratégies existentielles et instrumentales. La communauté comme solution au problème del'exclusion se distingue de la communauté comme forme de lien social. Mais cette dernièreoption ne garantit pas une intégration à la société globale; elle ouvre seulement la ported'un secteur communautaire qui est lui-même marginalisé.The crisis of the welfare state has produced a new social management model wherein thecommunity is asked to play a major part. The article analyzes the contemporary roles andsignificances of the community in social policies and social movements, linking them toglobal, national and local approaches as well as to existential and instrumental strategies.The community as a solution to the problem of exclusion is distinct from the community as aform of social link. The latter option does not however guarantee integration into thelarger society, but merely facilitates access to employment in the community action sector,which is itself marginalized.La crisis del Estado-Providencia ha dado origen a un nuevo modelo de gestion social enel cual la comunidad esta Uamada a jugar un roi importante. El artfculo analiza lassignificaciones contemporâneas de la comunidad en las poUticas sociales y en los movimientossociales, relacionândolas a las estrategias mundiales, nacionales y locales, asf como a lasestrategias existenciales e instrumentales.
