La prétraduction automatique (PTA) est une formule originale qui vise àrétablir la rentabilité de l'intervention technologique, condition indispensable pour queles traducteurs acceptent de repenser leurs méthodes de travail et de prendre l'initiativedans la conception de leurs outils informatiques. La PTA se caractérise par une traductionpartielle du texte original, ce qui laisse au traducteur l'entière initiative de latraduction. La marge de rentabilité associée à la PTA est due notamment au peu de ressourcesqu'elle demande à l'utilisateur.The current situation in the field of machine translation (MT) is not too encouraging:for various reasons, cost-effectiveness requirements are rarely met, and this preventstranslators from venturing into the technology.
