This article outlines the theoretical foundations and the design of a researchproject concerning a psycholinguistically oriented investigation of translationsfrom German into Portuguese. Within an empirical framework it aims to analyse datacollected among Portuguese and Brazilian translators using the thinking-aloudtechnique. Building on it, it cross-examines the issue in its linguistic andcultural aspects, throwing light on and contributing to the development of themethodology of translation teaching as a whole and, more specifically, in relationto the linguistic pair German/Portuguese.Cet article résume les fondations et le design d'un projet d'investigationpsycholinguistique dans le domaine de la traduction de l'allemand au portugais.D'une façon empirique, on essaie d'analyser les données obtenues auprès destraducteurs portugais et brésiliens en utilisant la technique "penser à haute voix".A partir des données recueillies, on examine les aspects linguistiques et culturelset on élabore des conclusions qui apportent une contribution au développement de ladidactique et de la méthodologie pour l'enseignement de la traduction en général et,plus particulièrement, pour la paire de langue allemand/portugais
