The effect .of afferent signa1s from the peri.od.ontal ligam 巴nt and musc1e spindles .ofjaw-c1.osing musc1es on adrenal medullary function is not known.WE approached thIS matter through analysls of adrenal sympathetIC n巴rve actI vity ,tr勾巴 ct.ories .ofjaw m.ovements ,and EMG activity .of the masseter musc1e rec.ord巴d simu1tane.ous1y in anesthetiz 巴d rats. Rhythmic jaw m.ovements (RJM) were eV.ok巴d by repetitive electrica1 stimu1ati.on of the cerebra1 c.ortex. Theie was n.o significant change in the adren~1 nerve activity during RJM. When a 2 mm-thick w.o.oden stick was plac 巴d between the .opposing incisors during RJM ,the activities .of the masseter musc1e and the adrenal n巴rve were facilitated. The facilitative response .of the adrenal nerve returned to the pre-stimu1us level after the wO.oden stick was withdrawn. After secti.oning the bilateral maxillary and inferi.or alve.olar nerves ,the facilitativ 巴 resp.onse t.o the masseterie activity due to applicati.on .of th巴 wooden stick became great1y reduc 巴d but n.o significant chang 巴:was seen in the adrena1 nerve activity. The masseteric activity increased while th巴 jaw was stretched during RJM to increase the afferent signa1s fr.om the musc1e spind1es; however ,the adrena1 n巴rve activity did n.ot change significantly. Adrenal nerve activity was facilitated when pres山e stimulati.on was applied manual1y t.o the upper incis.ors. The facilitative effect was much gr巴ater during repetitive stimu1ati.on to the teeth than that .observed during c.ontinuous stimulati.on. These results indicate that afferent signals from the peri.od.ontal ligament are resp.onsible f.or the facilitati.on .of adrenal nerve activity. 抄録歯根膜および関口筋筋紡錘からの感覚情報が副腎髄質機能に及ぼす影響を調べる目的で,麻酔ラッ トを用いて副腎交感神経活動,下顎運動および、岐筋筋電図を同時記録し解析を行った大脳皮質の連続電 連絡先:〒 951 新潟市学校町通二番町 5274 100 顎機能誌 4 :99-104,1997. 気刺激によりリズミカルな下顎運動を誘発した.誘発されたリズミカルな下顎運動中,副腎交感神経活動 に明らかな変化は認やられなかった.リズミカルな下顎運動中に,上下切歯間に木片(厚さ 2 rnm) を挿入 し岐合させると,岐筋活動および副腎交感神経活動は増加した.木片を撤去すると,副腎交感神経活動は 木片の岐合前のレベルまで戻った.あらかじめ上顎神経および下歯槽神経を両側性に切断した動物では, リズミカルな下顎運動中の木片校合による岐筋活動の促通効果は減少し,副腎交感神経の活動には明らか な増加は認められなかづた.リズミカルな下顎運動中に下顎を牽引することで筋紡錘感覚情報を増加させ ると,岐筋活動は増加したが,副腎交感神経活動には明らかな変化は認められなかった.また,上顎切歯 に手動で庄刺激を行った際には副腎交感神経活動の増加がみられ,この効果は持続圧刺激よりも反復庄刺 激の方が大きかった. 以上の結果から,歯根膜感覚情報が副腎交感神経活動を増加させることが明らかになった.
