Fracture toughness of polypropylene (PP) and its composites reinforced with the glass bead or glass milled fiber was investigated in relations to the shape and the surface treatment of glass particles. Two types of raw materials ; the high crystalline and the general purpose PP's, were used. The glass particles were treated by six kinds of silane coupling agents. The wettability was measured by the contact angle of nine kinds of liquids on to the glass plates treated by the same silane coupling agents. The fracture toughness of composites, measured by the compact tension type test pieces, has shown good correlation with the wettability, i.e., the surface polarity and the critical surface tension.
