The arterial blood pressure was evaluated using maximal aerobic and anaerobic tests in athletes (AT) and in physically active individuals (PA). This study is characterized as a crossover, in which all volunteers were submitted to experimental conditions, and they are control of them own. Twelve individuals participated, 6 PA and 6 cyclists AT. The individuals performed two maximal tests in cycle ergometer: Balke and Wingate (randomly). Data analysis was through Graph Pad Prism program. We observed that arterial blood pressure response was similar between PA and AT. Our results show that both protocols used did not induced the post-exercise hypotension (PEH) in the two groups observed. We suggest that the time may be the most important factor for the induction of PEH. We conclude that maximum aerobic and anaerobic exercise is not able to produce PEH in AT or in PA.
