Esta tesis doctoral nos permite conocer la incidencia de la Nefropatía asociada a contraste en la población de pacientes críticos de nuestro país. La inclusión de distintos tipos de Unidades de Cuidados Intensivos nos permite una perspectiva amplia, incluyendo pacientes médicos, quirúrgicos, politraumatizados y coronarios. Además, nos permite conocer las características diferenciales entre el grupo de pacientes coronarios y el resto de pacientes críticos.  Se han determinado las características demográficas de los pacientes implicados, su perfil de gravedad y el comportamiento clínico tras la administración de contraste, enfatizando en todos los factores de riesgo identificados como potencialmente lesivos para la función renal, de manera que se puedan identificar los perfiles de mayor riesgo para una mejor prevención. Se aporta información sobre la administración y la efectividad de las medidas preventivas en cuanto a una disminución de la incidencia o una disminución de la mortalidad.This doctoral thesis provides relevant data regarding the knowledge of contrast-associated nephropathy in Spanish critical patients. The inclusion of different types of Intensive Care Units allows a broad perspective, including medical, surgical, polytrauma and coronary patients. In addition, allow us to know the differential characteristics between the group of coronary patientes and the rest of critical patients.  We analized the demographic characterístics of the patients involved, their severity profile and clinical behaviour following the administration of iodated contrast. All the risk factors identified as potentially harmful to renal function were identified, so that the profiles with the highest risk for better prevention could be identified. Information is provided on the administration and effectiveness of preventive measures in terms of a decrease in incidence or a decrease in mortality
