Creep tests were made in te nsion u nder constan t loads at t emperatures of 300, 700, 900 . and 1,200 of on nickel, copper, 70-percent n ickel-30-percent copper, a nd 30-perce nt-ni ckeJ70-percent copper specimens, ini tially cold-drawn to 40-percen t reduction in area. Co nform ance t o t he convent ional creep rate laws was obtained only over limi ted ranges of stresses , temperatures, creep rates, and strains. Metallographic examinat ions were carried out on some of t he fractured specimens to ascertain t he effects of temperature a nd stress on t he necking characteristics, internal cracking, subgrain formation and t he number a nd distribut ion of "etch figures." The relations between cold-drawing and t he creep cha racteristics a re d iscussed .
