The magnetic polarizabili ty tensor of a short righ t circular condu cting cylin der is calculated in t he principal axes system wit h a un iform quas i-static bu t n onpenetrating a pplied field. One of the t wo distinct t ensor components is derived from resul ts alread y obtained in co nnection wi th the electric polarizabili ty of shor t condu cting cylind ers. The other is calculated to an accuracy of four to five significan t figures for cylinders with radi us to h alf-length ratios of }~, }~, 1, 2, a nd 4. These results, when combin ed with t he corresponding results for the electric pola ri zabil ity, are a pplicable to t he proble m of calculating scattering from cylinclers and to the des ign of a r t ific;a l dispersive media.
