The refract ive indices of typical samples of five opti cal glasses made at t he Nationa l Bureau of Stanriards were measured ove r a range of wavelengths from 0.35 to 2.32 mi crons. This was done in such a way that th e values obtained in t he visible a nd invisible p or t ions of t he spectrum are consis ten t wi th one another. The res ult s are expressed for each glass by a six-constant disp ersion for m ula.
