A gasometric method for the analysis of ethylene oxide mixed with carbon dioxide is reported. Ethylene oxide is swiftly and quantitatively removed from the gas phase by a relatively small amount of sulfuric acid. This reagent absorbs over 5,000 times its own volume of ethylene oxide, and the quantity used (only 0.2 ml) dissolves no significant amount of carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide is absorbed in a concentrated solution of potassium hydroxide. A reproducibility of ±0.05 percent is attained; the accuracy is commensurate. All gases are measured dry in a new apparatus designed to perform this type of analysis
