MAN B&W 2-Stroke engines are optimized to operate on heavy fuel. The MGO / MDO fuels can be used, however, some individual considerations on the Engine and fuel system have to be done to ensure safe and reliable performance:  Viscosity and lubricity of fuels  Keeping high fuel pump pressure  Use of cooler or chiller in external fuel supply system  Other considerations, references for more information Traditionally, the lowest viscosity suitable for large marine diesels has been set at 2 cSt at engine inlet.
