大阪府内の水道原水・浄水および淀川水系における1, 4-ジオキサンの実態把握を行った。その結果, 府内浄水場の原水・浄水における1, 4-ジオキサンは高濃度汚染のあった1ヶ所を除いて 50μg/l) のあった1ヶ所は取水源である地下水が1, 4-ジオキサンの汚染を受けていた。1, 4-ジオキサンの浄水処理による除去率は低く, 既存の浄水処理では1, 4-ジオキサンの除去は難しいことがわかった。また, 府内の主要な水源である淀川水系における1, 4-ジオキサンの検出濃度は0.080.91μg/lであった。
