高度浄水処理水が広範囲に給水されている都市域で, 我々が飲用する蛇口水のTOXレベルを明らかにした。マンションと戸建て住宅の蛇口におけるTOX濃度に差は認められなかった。大阪府の高度処理水のTOX濃度は浄水場から給水栓に向かって増加した。一方, 大阪市は増加しなかった。高度処理水のみが給水されている大阪府と大阪市の蛇口水のTOX濃度に差は認められなかった。大阪市の浄水のTOX濃度は大阪府に比べ高い値を示した。これらは浄水場での浄水池・配水池あるいは配水・送水管での滞留時間の差に大きく依存していると考えられた。TOXレベルは高度処理水=高度処理水と地下水のブレンド≦地下水<高度処理水と表流水のブレンド<表流水であった。TOXはあくまでもスクリーニグ手法であり, ハロゲン化消毒副生成物の組成および濃度については今後の課題である。
