日本原子力研究所は高浜クリーンセンターにおいて, ゴミ燃焼ガス中のダイオキシン類 (DXN) を電子ビームを用いて分解する実験を行った。試料の採取と前処理をJIS法に従って行うと少なくても2週間が必要である。しかし, 排煙から試料を採取するために活性炭繊維からできたDXN吸着採取フィルタを採用することにより, 試料からのDXN抽出にかかる時間は16時間から2時間半に短縮された。また, クリーンアッププロセスの改良により, JIS法の半分以下の時間でクリーンアップを行うことができた。この方法により, 排煙試料の取り扱いに慣れていない実験者でもGC/MS試料を調製することができた。また, JIS法に比肩する正確さで, 試料採取及び前処理を4日間で行うことが可能になった。
