Mintons' racer is a valid species of the racer genus Platyceps Blyth. It is, so far, only reported from southern Afghanistan and Baluchistan (Iran, Pakistan). Morphologically, P. mintonorum (Mertens) differs from all potentially sympatric Platyceps spp. Baluchi records of P. cf. rhodorachis (Jan) are in need of further studies.
