Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) found its application in psychotherapy as well, particularly in the treatment of psychosomatic disorders. Basis for the NLP Positive Intention Principles is that behind any behavior there is a subjectively positive intention. Baseline assumption upon which the principle is based states that all systems (particularly self-organized and 'cybernetic' systems) are directed towards adjustment. In the NLP framework, a person is considered as such system. It could be said that in majority of the cases a person has positive intention only for part of the system he/she is aware of and which the person identifies with. Great contribution of NLP is the discovery that expansion of the person's model of the world and adding new alternatives enable the person to make a wiser and healthier choice for realization of the same positive intention. NLP technique, Six Steps Reframing, leads to the loss of psychosomatic symptoms through experimenting with new options and adopting such options. Instead of painful and unpleasant behavior, a person adopts new options for realization of the same positive intention. LT, 43 years of age, is a college educated mother of two children. She has had occasional headaches for 26 years. For the last 18 years, those headaches mostly included different types of migraines. Intervention using the Six Steps Reframing Technique was done more than 4 years before publishing this work. During that period, she experienced only one moderate migraine attack.
