In this paper, the author has reviewed the procedural norms of the Serbian Law on Minor Offences, except those provisions which relate to the organization of authorities in charge for conducting minor offence court proceedings and to the procedure before the administrative authorities. The author concludes that the new Law, even though the situation in this area had been inadequate, did not introduce any major changes. Therefore the author presents his view on the future reform of that part of the minor offence legislation, convinced that it will have to be done soon. The author thinks that the future reform shall start with the request to increase the efficiency level of the minor offence court proceedings, firstly by excluding preconditions that today enable its severe obstruction, while providing the standard level of protection of defendant's rights.
