With the expansion of Accountancy, it becomes essential to the integration of scientific research in teaching as a means of building knowledge and training of critical thinking. Thus, this study investigated the profile of students of Accounting Sciences, Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) in relation to scientific research. The study is descriptive, qualitative and primary source of data. As a result it was found that: only 30% of the students claim to have participated in some forum, lecture or seminar, 46% consider it very important scientific research for those who have claim to follow the academic career (sensu strictu), 65% of the students say the course in Accounting offers no events on what is and how to develop a scientific research, 92% of the students have never participated in any research group accredited by CNPq and coordinated by a professor at UFSC, 84% of the students were encouraged to have contact scientific articles, the teachers of the course, the 47 students who were encouraged to develop scientific article, the most developed one to two articles, among other results. It is concluded that students have a profile related to scientific research, even in its embryonic stage.
