A distribuicao espacial de plantas por area e um recurso para aumentar a produtividade. Normalmente populacoes mais altas, aliadas a reducao do espacamento entre linhas, tem propiciado maiores rendimentos. Esse arranjo de plantas pode culminar com maior acumulo de massa seca sobre o solo, favorecendo a cultura sucessora. O trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar as caracteristicas fitotecnicas, a produtividade e o acumulo de massa seca de dois hibridos de milho (AG 9010 YG e Agrisure TL, ambos transgenicos) em dois espacamentos. O experimento foi instalado no periodo de safrinha (fevereiro de 2010), em area experimental da Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul. Foi composto pela combinacao dos dois Hibridos, semeados em dois espacamentos (0,45 e 0,90 m) entre linhas, com densidade de sete sementes por metro. O delineamento experimental foi em esquema fatorial 2 x 2, com oito repeticoes, distribuidos em blocos casualizados. Foram avaliadas caracteristicas da planta de milho, componentes de producao, produtividade e materia seca de toda a planta. Maior produtividade de graos e producao de massa seca total foram obtidos no espacamento de 0,45 m entre plantas. No espacamento de 0,90 m entre linhas, com menor populacao final de plantas, obteve-se maior altura de plantas, maior altura de insercao da primeira espiga, do diâmetro do caule e do indice de espigas.O hibrido Agrisure TL tambem foi mais produtivo e conseguiu maior acumulo de massa seca que o hibrido AG 9010 YG. Abstract The spatial distribution of plants is a resource to increase productivity. Typically higher populations, coupled with reduction of row spacing, have provided higher yields. This plant arrangement may culminate in higher dry matter accumulation on the soil, benefiting culture successor. The objective of this study was to evaluate the characteristics of plant, yield and dry matter accumulation of two maize hybrids (AG 9010 and Agrisure YG TL, both transgenic) in two spaces. The experiment was installed in February 2010 in the experimental area of the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul . It was composed by the combination of the two hybrids, sown in two row spacing (0.45 and 0.90 m) between lines, with a density of seven seeds per meter. The experimental design was a 2 x 2 factorial with eight replications, distributed in randomized blocks. It was evaluated characteristics of the corn plant, yield components, yield and dry matter of the whole plant. Higher grain yield and total dry matter production were obtained at a spacing of 0.45 m between plants. In the spacing of 0.90 m between rows, with lower plant population was obtained greater plant height, height of first ear, trunk diameter and index spikes. O hybrid Agrisure TL was also more productive and achieved greater dry mass than the hybrid AG 9010 YG.
