espanolResumen: Esta nota ha sido concebida como un homenaje postumo a la profesora Paola Bentivoglio, pionera en la investigacion linguistica sobre el espanol de Venezuela y en la formacion de nuevas generaciones de estudiosos del lenguaje en el pais. En la primera parte, presentamos algunos datos biograficos sobre la autora y su trayectoria academica. En la segunda, resumimos la produccion cientifica de la homenajeada, su papel en el desarrollo y posterior consolidacion de la linguistica de corpus en Venezuela, asi como su contribucion a la Asociacion de Linguistica y Filologia de America Latina (ALFAL). Por ultimo, damos cuenta de algunos eventos y publicaciones que han surgido recientemente para honrar su memoria. EnglishAbstract: This note has been conceived as a posthumous tribute to Professor Paola Bentivoglio, a pioneer in linguistic research on Venezuelan Spanish, as well as in the training of new generations of language scholars in the country. We first present biographical data of Professor Bentivoglio and describe her academic career. We then summarize part of her extensive scientific production; her role in the development and subsequent consolidation of corpus linguistics in Venezuela; and her contribution to the Asociacion de Linguistica y Filologia de America Latina (ALFAL). Finally, we highlight some of the more recent academic tributes that have been organized to honor her memory.
