espanolResumen: Un tema de creciente interes en el estudio de narrativas infantiles es el uso del reporte del discurso y pensamiento de los personajes (DR). Sin embargo, no hemos hallado descripciones sistematicas de su uso en ninos hispanohablantes con problemas del lenguaje. Este estudio observa como ocurre el discurso y el pensamiento reportado (DR) comparando cualitativamente renarraciones de 25 ninos con desarrollo tipico (DT) y 25 ninos con Trastorno Especifico del Lenguaje (TEL) de 7 anos. Los resultados indican un patron de desempeno similar, aunque con leves diferencias. Las diferencias descansan en la extension y complejidad de las renarraciones y la distribucion y frecuencia de uso de los diferentes mecanismos de DR. Estos resultados nos permiten concluir que mientras los ninos con DT tienden a utilizar los mecanismos de DR en forma estrategica y pragmaticamente muy flexible, los ninos del grupo TEL de la misma edad poseen limitaciones para desarrollar esas competencias en el mismo grado. EnglishAbstract: The way children use reported speech and thoughts (RS) in narratives has become a topic of growing interest in child language studies. Nonetheless, systematic descriptions of these usages in Spanish speaking children with language disorders can not be found. To fill this gap, we have analyzed how 7 years old children, 25 Typical Development (TD) children and 25 children diagnosed with Developmental Language Delay (DLD), use reported speech and thoughts (RS) in a retelling task. Results show very similar trends in both groups, with slight differences at stories length, their syntactic complexity, and frequency and distribution of RS devices. These results allow to conclude that while TD children tend to use RS devices in a strategic and more flexible way, DLD children of the same age perform in a lower level when they have to use these abilities.
