The article presents the theoretical andmethodological framework in the appropriationof a "traditional popular song" of the Stateof Santa Catarina as historical source inthe teaching of adult learners of History ofSanta Catarina, in a course in Tourism at theInstituto Federal de Santa Catarina, campusFlorianópolis Continente (2012-2013). Theapproach was defined in three research andteaching stages: writing proto-narratives of thesong; pedagogical intervention of the teacherresearcher,and writing historical narratives ofthe song. Results support the study hypothesis:the writing of historical narratives of songs canfoster historical awareness, and the developmentof the students' cultural identity in vocationaland technological education
