The Family Health Program ("Programa Saúde da Familia", PSF) is a new way of thinking-making health, a new proposal that brings as basic question the process of humanization in the care of user(s) of health service. The professionals that take part in this process are important for this change. Based on the principles of the theory of social representations, this article shows the opinions elaborated by PSF professionals, which are related to their practice, identifying the way they see themselves as well as how others see them, including the way society represents itself in this practicing. This practice is classified between positive and negative poles by the actors responsible to carry it out every day.
