A study was carried out to explain the transfer process of thorium from lithosphere to hydrosphere. Thorium is contained in granites in two forms : the former is contained in mineral resistates and is hardly transportable into solution, and the latter is contained in so-called leachable material and is easily transportable into solution. The experiments indicated that leachable thorium could be leached from granite by dilute hydrochloric acid and carbonated water. The discussion was made on the problem how thorium was brought into river water and sea water during the weathering.
