This article aims to present research results of the subjective senses produced by subjects within a historical-cultural context and, from the subjectivity, to analyze the perception that teachers and students have about the teaching-learning process of English. The study is justified by the need for research on the perception of established beliefs and the actions of the subjects in front of these perceptions, which can contribute to the improvement and quality of English teaching. The theoretical framework of this research was premised on the perception of Vigotsky's Historical-Cultural Theory and the established types of beliefs. The methodology chosen to this study was the Theory of Subjectivity of Gonzalez Rey, taking as participants students of regular basic education and free English course of public schools of Osasco and region. The data were collected through the use of Interview, Test Completing Phrases and Sheet Writing of specific topic. Through the analyses of the perceptions of representatives of each of the studied groups, the data were confronted to obtain the subjectivity of each one before the perceptions of established beliefs and actions resulting from these perceptions during the teaching-learning process in order to contribute to further studies on the teaching-learning processes of English.
