In the present work, the MASP methodology (Method of Analysis and Problem Solving) was applied to a manufacturing industry in Lavras (Minas Gerais), which produces irrigation machines. One of the problems identified in this industry was the high number of defective parts from its suppliers. The following statistical tools were used: Brainstorming, Check Sheets, Cause and Effect Diagram, Pareto Diagram and Flow Chart. The results found in this study suggest that an effective suppliers control is needed. This finding led to a implementation of a system in order to verify the nonconformities of the parts and, at the same time, give a feedback to the suppliers, generating a graph and an performance index of each of them. After applying the MASP, there was a reduction in the rate of defective parts or out of specification cases, and consequent reduction of the manufacturing lead time.
