うきは市の現時点での、65歳以上の高齢化率が 32.3%である。同時期のわが国の高齢化率は26.7 %で5.6ポイント先行しており、政府の長期予想 に従えば、うきは市は全国平均よりも15年先を行 っているといえる。こうした状況の中で、高齢者 がいつまでも社会参画、労働参画できるような、 生涯現役のまちづくりというのがますます重要に なってきている。うきは市では重点施策の一つと して、すべての市民が、健康でいきいきと幸せを 感じれるようなまちづくりを、大きな旗印の一つ に挙げている。 本日のシンポジウムでは健康がキーワードとな っているが、健康づくりの重要なポイントとして、 特定健診、食、運動、休養、生きがい、きずなの 6点を挙げたい。これらに力を入れて様々な取り 組みをうきは市では実施している。 本報告では、この食、特に野菜を中心とした、 食と健康を通した地域振興について、うきは市の 現状の課題と取り組みについて報告をさせていた だく。
