70歳以上の高齢者大腸癌の臨床病理学的特徴を明らかにするため, 30歳以上70歳未満の成人症例と比較検討した. 成人例と異なり, 高齢者大腸癌の50%は右側結腸に発生し, 70.6%が女性であった. 高齢者の右側結腸癌の23.5%は浸潤型であるBorrmann3, 4型であったが, 成人症例では逆に左側結腸, 直腸肛門癌に浸潤型が多くそれぞれ25.9%, 22.5%であった.治癒切除例の肉眼癌型別の生存率では高齢者の浸潤型はstageの進行程度も高く予後が悪 かった. さらに高齢者右側結腸癌の5年生存率は21.6%と最も予後が悪かった.
