昭和40年から昭和59年までの20年間に教室で迷走神経切離術を施行した十二指腸潰瘍症例は134例で, このうち6例, 4.5%が再発した. 再発率を術式別にみると, TV+Pが63例中3例4.8%, SV+Pが29例中3例, 12.0%でV+P全体では92例中6例, 6.5%であった. 一方, TV+A, SV+Aは1例の再発もみられなかった. 再発例6例のうち3例は緊急手術例で, 再発までの期間は1年7ヵ月であった. 2例は保存的療法にて治癒し, 4例は再手術を施行した. 再発の原因についてみると, 1例はZollinger-Ellison症候群であった.残り5例のうち4例までは酸分泌亢進によるもので, 迷走神経切離術後MAOは非再発例に比べ高値を示した.
