Clast petrology, shape, roundness and striation were studied invarious types of glacial deposits of Bertilbreen in centralSvalbard. Difference between the upper part of lateral moraineand the lower part of lateral and frontal moraine(latero-frontal zone near the ice margin) was determined. Theupper part of lateral moraine contains mostly very angular tosubangular clasts of blade and icometric shapes withoutstriation traces. Clasts in lower part of lateral moraine andin frontal moraine are mostly subangular and subrounded withisometric shapes. 30–50% of these clasts are striated. Types ofsource sediments and available bedrock outcrops affect thenature of proglacial glaciolfuvial braidstream sediments. Clastsurface striation is preserved. A braided outwash fan formed inthe distal part of the braidstream. The clast nature here isaffected by the dynamic of the glaciofluvial transport, thussubrounded clasts predominates. Striation is not preserved onclast surfaces here.
