Long-term use of narcotics causes hyperalgesia in some patients with an unknown mechanism known as opioid-induced hyperalgesia (OIH). Case Presentation: Testosterone was prescribed to a 43-year-old man suffering from the effects of OIH syndrome due to long-term use of methadone. Testosterone prescription significantly reduced the hyperalgesia. Conclusions: Testosterone may have a therapeutic value in OIH.
