There has recently been a growing interest in viewing the learning of English as a complex sociopolitical process which cannot be achieved through the mainstream teaching methodologies in which the student’s role is marginal and the teachers are consumers of Anglo-American materials (Norton & Toohey, 2004; Kumaravadivelu, 2011).
