O objetivo deste artigo e apresentar algumas ferramentas de Sistema de Informacao Geografica (SIG) utilizadas para analisar os padroes espaciais da especie Ocotea odorifera (Vell.) Rohwer na Floresta Nacional de Irati (PR). Foram utilizados tres conjuntos de dados com um total de 5549 pares de coordenadas (individuos de canela-sassafras com altura maior que 30 cm), provenientes de tres hectares amostrais. O SIG implementado com a integracao dos softwares TerraView e SPRING mostrou-se eficaz para analises da distribuicao espacial, conversao de dados e na representacao cartografica dos individuos da especie. Os resultados obtidos para as categorias regeneracao e arvores adultas de O. odorifera sao apresentados. Sentiu-se necessidade de metodos e ferramentas que permitam analises bivariadas dos padroes espaciais e opcoes de correcao de borda na analise espacial com a funcao L. A especie apresentou padrao espacial agregado para a regeneracao natural em todas as escalas analisadas, indicando um padrao caracteristico da especie nas fases iniciais. Os individuos adultos de canela-sassafras apresentaram em geral um padrao espacial aleatorio. Abstract The objective of this paper is to present some of the Geographic Information System (GIS) tools used to analyse spatial patterns of Ocotea odorifera (Vell.) Rohwer in the National Forest of Irati (PR). It was used three data sets with a total of 5549 pairs of coordinates (canela-sassafras trees with height above than 30 cm), from three sampled hectares. The implemented GIS with integration of TerraView and SPRING softwares showed to be effective for analysis of spatial distribution, data conversion and cartographic representation of each tree of studied species. The results for the categories regeneration and adult trees of O. odorifera are shown. The need of methods and tools that allow bivariate analysis of spatial patters were detected as also options of edge correction in spatial analysis with the L function. An aggregated spacial pattern of regeneration was found at all scales until 25 m, probably related to favorable habitat spots of site. Generally, adult plants showed a random spacial pattern.
