Machine learning (ML) algorithms application in medicine have recently become trend research in the medical field and particularly in radiation oncology (radiotherapy). In radiotherapy, in which the patients with malignant deceases are treated with radiation, most of the processes in the treatment-chain are empowered with the machine learning. In this chapter, we provide the interested reader with the cutting edge applications of the state-of-the-art ML methods in radiation therapy; starting from patient's diagnosis, treatment consultation, treatment simulation, treatment planning and delivery, treatment machine quality assurance, to patient treatment response modeling and treatment outcome prediction. ML techniques could compensate for human limitations in handling a large amount of owing information in an efcient manner, in which simple errors can make the difference between life and death. Moreover, patient's treatment outcome prediction using the patient's images data would lead to patient-specific treatment prescription hence fall in a precisely given medicine (“precision medicine” or “personalized medicine”) rather than one-fits-for-all.
