Research on social anxiety disorder (SAD), and its treatment, widely focuses on intrapersonal aspects. There also exists an increasing body of literature concentrating on its interpersonal dimensions. This chapter will present an overview about both intrapersonal and interpersonal approaches to SAD. This will be followed by a clinical application including dyadic and group session fostering the intraand interpersonal perspective in cognitive behavioral therapy, in addition to the derivation of the patient’s individual model of SAD based on Clark and Wells model of treating SAD.
