The COVID-19 pandemic has created challenges and disruptions in almost every sector in the world in general and in Ethiopia in particular. The education system is one of the sectors that have been severely affected by the pandemic. As a result, a new way of learning was initiated by educational institutions almost all around the world, and educational institutions were trying their level best to continue with educating students through online learning platforms. Haramaya University, one of the higher learning institutions of Ethiopia, is not an exception to this very fact. Hence, this study aimed at studying barriers and enablers in the education, and psycho-social well-being of university students amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The study employed a concurrent mixed methods design in which both quantitative and qualitative data were collected separately and analyzed in an integrated manner. A total of 384 participants were selected using stratified random sampling technique based on their heterogeneous features. Both primary and secondary data were consulted. Accordingly, primary data was collected from postgraduate students (for quantitative data) and instructors (for qualitative data). These primary data were collected through questionnaire and key informant interview. Besides, secondary data was collected from published and unpublished documents, research articles, and different reports by various stakeholders. While the quantitative data was analyzed employing descriptive statistics the qualitative data was analyzed thematically. At the end, both data were merged it order to get the full picture of the study. The study revealed high perception in experiencing barriers and low perception in experiencing enablers of online education among postgraduate students. In addition, they experienced severe level of psycho-social well-being problems during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Hence, it is recommended that removing the barriers and enhancing the enablers of online education is of a paramount importance as an education intervention response to adapt the online education system in such emergency situation. Besides taking such intervention measures, the provision of mental health and psycho-social support services is recommended to prevent and intervene in psycho-social well-being problems among postgraduate students during COVID-19.
