In this paper, we present a Software Defined Radio(SDR) spectrum sensing demonstrator, based on the analysis ofthe cyclostationary signatures of a digital communication signal.We define a cyclostationary signature as a feature whichis not intentionally embedded in a digital communications signal,but can be detected through cyclostationary analysis andused as a unique identifier. We present a theoretical discussionfollowed by a practical demonstration on a SDR platform. Thedemonstrator is used to analyze WiMAX 802.16d digital communicationsignals. We compare the performance of the spectrumsensing algorithm based on cyclostationary analysis withthe one based on energy detection. The paper describes the mainconstraints and trade-offs, which influenced the design of thedemonstrator. The probability of false alarm and the probabilityof missed detection are computed and the results are presentedfor different sets of the demonstrator parameters.JRC.G.6-Security technology assessmen
