This study aims to investigate the ongoing urban diffusion process at a regional space between the Brazilian cities of Ouro Preto and Itabirito. This geographical area was chosen because it is a dynamic space with the presence of new urban centers that are the result of urban diffusion process guided by the growth process of Ouro Preto and Itabirito. To enable this investigation, after the contextualization of the space under study within the perimetropolitan area of Belo Horizonte and within the urban area of Ouro Preto, Mariana and Itabirito, is made the analysis of its environmental characteristics, morphological and functional, and are investigated new urban centers with the analysis of the functional morphology, detailing the type and the role that each has within the regional area under study.
