A constituicao da identidade nacional , ou da nacionalidade , dos paises e tema de profundos estudos , por parte de varios autores. Este artigo pretende apresentar as consideracoes de dois autores a esse respeito, contrapondo-as ao caso da formacao do Estado Nacional argentino, buscando demonstrar que, se para Anderson a nacao e uma comunidade imaginada, ou seja, existe na mente das pessoas , independente de habitarem um mesmo espaco fisico, para Wasserman , foi justamente a falta de um elemento aglutinador que dificultou a formacao dos Estados nacionais latino-americanos e a constituicao desses paises enquanto nacoes. Abstract The Constitution of the national identity or nationality is the subject of deep studies by various authors. This article aims to present considerations of two of these authors, concerned to the case of formation of the Argentine National State, seeking to demonstrate that, if for Anderson the nation is an imagined community, i.e. exists in the minds of people, independent of inhabiting the same physical space, to Wasserman was precisely the lack of a grouping element that has hindered the formation of national States in Latin America and the Constitution of these countries as Nations.
