Esse texto versa sobre a emigracao portuguesa rumo ao Brasil e seus retornados “brasileiros” durante a segunda metade do seculo XIX e inicio do seculo XX. Partindo de analises historicas de obras literarias portuguesas referentes ao periodo mencionado, objetiva-se perceber os motivos do desterro, do retorno, o perfil dos torna-viagem e algumas consequencias economicas e culturais desses processos. Duas obras, com pontos de vista bem distintos em relacao aos regressados, sao enfatizadas neste estudo: A brasileira de Prazins , de Camilo Castelo Branco e O brasileiro Soares , de Luiz de Magalhaes. Abstract This article is concerned with the Portuguese emigration to Brazil, focusing on those who returned to Portugal during the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. This study aims to analyze the history of some Portuguese Literature during this time, seeking to understand the emigration causes, the return of the emigrants, the profile of those who returned to Portugal and the economic and cultural consequences of this process. Two novels are emphasized in this research: A Brasileira de Prazins , by Camilo Castelo Branco and O Brasileiro Soares , by Luiz de Magalhaes.
