The article in question presents data obtained with the master's thesis entitled "Environmental Education and Water: concepts and educational practices in schools municipais", linked to PPGE / FCT UNESP, Pres. Prudent. We investigated how the water theme attended: the Special Projects of Schools; in educational plans; in textbooks of Science and Geography adopted and how it is addressed by teachers, from their theoretical and methodological concepts. Through a cut, they present the discussions that relate to geography textbooks adopted by the Municipal Education Network, which were used by the subjects of our investigation. The methodology was qualitative character of the "case study". The results obtained from the analysis of geography textbooks point out that the water theme appears in some activities that addressed the context of the students lived, however, it presents an incomplete approach to the hydrological cycle.
