野生植物の分布の垂直的な上限や地理的な北限 は,熱量の要求限界とともに,冬期の寒さに対す る耐性限界によって制限されることが多い(大澤 1993)。このため,日本列島における自然林の分 布は,広域で見ると,気温・降水量・積雪量など といった気候条件の地理的な区分と良く対応して いる。 南北に長い日本列島には様々な種類の森林が成 立している(図 1 A)。大きく区分すると,南か ら北(または低標高から高標高)の順に,常緑広 葉樹林,常緑針葉樹林(モミ・ツガ林),落葉広 葉樹林,汎針広混交林,亜高山(亜寒帯)針葉樹 林,高山植生,などに区分される(福嶋・岩瀬 2005)。 常緑広葉樹林は,関東と北陸以南の暖かい地域 に広がる森林タイプで,名前のとおり,一年中緑 色の葉をつけており,スダジイ,タブノキ,アカ ガシ,ヤブツバキといった常緑広葉樹が優占する 気候変動が天然林の潜在生育域に与える影響の評価と温暖化適応策 Impact assessment of climate change on natural forests’ potential habitats and adaptation plans
