espanolEl estres ha ocupado un papel importante como topico de investigacion en los estudios dedicados al arbitraje. A pesar de ello, no se ha profundizado en la diferencia entre las fuentes de estres de dentro y fuera de partido. Este trabajo parte de la diferenciacion para determinar los elementos mas relevantes y su relacion con el nivel de experiencia. En el estudio participaron 128 arbitros de futbol con una media de edad de 26.02 anos (M = 26.02, DE = 5.14) que respondieron un cuestionario sobre estresores dentro y fuera del partido. Los resultados muestran algunas situaciones de partido que generan estres (tener una mala actuacion o lesionarse) y de fuera (politicas del comite tecnico de arbitros o compaginar el arbitraje con la vida familiar). El estres percibido fue mayor para las fuentes de fuera que para las de dentro. Se encontro una asociacion negativa entre las temporadas de experiencia y las fuentes de estres de dentro. En cambio, no se hallo asociacion entre la experiencia y las fuentes de estres de fuera, lo que puede indicar que el manejo de este tipo de estresores requiere de intervenciones especificas que van mas alla de la acumulacion de experiencia en el arbitraje. La importancia que otorga el colectivo a los estresores de fuera sugiere la necesidad de fomentar aspectos que mejoren la relacion y confianza entre el comite y los arbitros (espacios de comunicacion e intercambio de opiniones) asi como de incorporar nuevos contenidos a los programas de formacion psicologica (habilidades de gestion del tiempo). EnglishStress has played a prominent role as a research topic in studies on refereeing. Nonetheless, there is little exploration of the difference between the sources of stress inside and outside a match. This study starts with this distinction to determine the most important factors and their relation with the level of experience. 128 football referees with a mean age of 26.02 (M = 26.02, SD = 5.14) participated in the study. They responded to a questionnaire about stressors inside and outside the match. The results show several situations inside the match which generate stress (having poor performance or getting injured) and outside the match (politics of the technical referee committee and combining refereeing with family life). The perceived stress was higher for sources outside than for sources inside the match. A negative association was found between the number of seasons of experience and the sources of stress inside the match. In contrast, no association was found between experience and sources of stress outside the match, which may indicate that handling this kind of stressor requires specific interventions that go beyond the accumulation of experience in refereeing. The importance that the referees attach to the outside stressors suggests the need to foster aspects which improve the relationships and trust between the committee and the referees (spaces of communication and exchange of opinions) as well as incorporating contents to the psychological training programs (time management skills).
