1.目 的 近年,農 業生態系の保全に関する研究が着手 され,長 い年 月を か けて生み出 され た耕作方法 に適応 した多 くの生物が,水 田地域 を生息地 として利用 している ことが明 らかになって きた2)。 水田畦畔地で は,大 窪 ・前 中12)が大規模 な基盤整備が行 われた 畦畔草地 群落の帰化植物率 が高 くなる こと,未 整備で伝統 的管理 が継続 されてい る畦畔では,在 来植物率 が高 く地域的 に も多様 な 群落が存 在す ること,す なわち基盤整備 の有無や管理手法,周 辺 環境の違 いによ り,畦 畔草地群落 の質 的相違が認 め られ る ことを 明 らかに してい る。水田に生息す るカエル類への基盤整備 や周辺 地の土地利 用状 況の影響につ いては,東 ・武内1)に より水 田の乾 田化の負の影響 が報 告 されている。 このように,水 田地域 の環境 は,基 盤 整備,農 作業の近代化,農 地 の荒廃 市街化 によ り急激 に変化 し,生 物 生息地 としての質的量 的変化が懸念 されて いる。 チ ョウ類 に関 しては,チ ョウの種類 によって生息す る環境 食 性,化 性 が異 な ってお り,地 域 における出現種名,種 数,個 体数 の調査よ り調査地 の環境状態が推測 できることか ら,チ ョウ類の 環境指標性 を利 用 した環境評価が行 なわれて いる9)16)17)。 また,開
