The factors involved in determining the prognosis of Bell's palsy were evaluated by multivariate analysis according to the theory of quantification II. The factors chosen for analysis are the sex and the age of the patients, the seasons of the onset and period between onset and diagnosis.The season of onset was the most closely related to prognosis and sex was the least. The sample score of each patient was calculated, and on the basis of this score it was possible to divide the patients into two groups : good or poor prognosis.These results suggest that multivariate analysis is useful in evaluating the prognosis of Bell's palsy. Further analysis should be done on a larger scale.
