Hypoparathyroidism, pseudohypoparathyroidism or hyperparathyroidism may give rise to this syndrome. Fahr syndrome is a disease characterized by neurodegenerative disorders that present with calsinosis in the cerebellum, thalamus and basal ganglia as a result of calcium and phosphorus metabolism defect. Deposition of calcium and other minerals can be indicated on brain computed tomography. In this article, we present a 68-year-old male patient, who had undergone subtotal thyroidectomy surgery 15 years ago, admitted to the emergency department with dizziness and contraction in the hands, and we detected hypocalcemia on his examination. We considered Fahr syndrome due to hypoparathyroidism.
