Cytogenetic analysis guides the therapy in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Deletion 6p has been reported in secondary AML, myelodysplastic syndrome, lymphoid malignancies and solid malignancies. Deletion 6p as the sole genetic abnormality in de nove AML has been reported only in a few papers in the literature. The importance of this chromosomal abnormality is yet unknown. Herein, a de novo AML patient with deletion 6p as the sole genetic abnormality has been presented.
