espanolLas investigaciones recientes sobre el poblamiento de las zonas altas de los Pirineos occidentales de Catalunya, concretamente en el actual Parque Nacional de Aiguestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici han permitido documentar una extensa secuencia de poblamiento humano y de explotacion y modificacion del medio fisico. El presente trabajo detalla la evolucion de este poblamiento desde el final de la prehistoria hasta entrados los primeros siglos de la Edad Media; un poblamiento que intensifica a partir de epoca imperial, especialmente durante el Bajo Imperio. La descripcion de la informacion arqueologica se combina con la exposicion resumida de los indicios de afectacion de esta ocupacion en el medio vegetal principalmente, como resultado de diversas actividades llevadas a cabo: la ganaderia, la agricultura, la mineria y la produccion metalurgica. EnglishRecent research on the highlands population of the western Pyrenees of Catalonia, specifically in the current National Park of Aiguestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici, has allowed to document an extensive sequence of human settlement, exploitation and modification of the physical environment. The present work details the evolution of this population from the end of Prehistory until the first centuries of the Middle Ages; a settlement that intensifies from the imperial era, especially during the Late Antiquity. The description of the archaeological information is combined with the summary of the evidence of this occupation affecting the vegetal environment mainly, as a result of various activities carried out: husbandry, agriculture, mining and metallurgical production.
