En este artículo se plantea la necesidad de un trabajo interdisciplinario de las distintas disciplinas que intentan encontrar soluciones viables al problema del contacto entre los dos idiomas de la comunidad catalano-castellana parlante. Expone que este trabajo interdisciplinario tiene que encontrar soluciones objetivas bajo fundamentos científicos y que sin la aportación de la psicología estará falto de una línea de investigación esencial. Expone además diversas vertientes del estudio del bilingüismo, desde el punto de vista de la psicología, del resto del mundo Occidental. Pone énfasis en su exposición más detallada, en la neoropsicología del bilingüismo como una de las líneas de estudio de más interés actual. Expone una medida de dominancia lingüística del idioma catalán basada en la prueba de Tiempo de Reacción de Asociación verbal con el fin de conocer el comportamiento lingüístico de los S catalano-castellano-parlantes, como un paso imprescindible para implantar programas coherentes tanto en la población en general como en la escuela. Finalmente expone una hipótesis de trabajo para la elaboración de programas introductorios del catalán en las escuelas de niños castellano parlantes, en base a los programas de 'inmersión' realizados en el Canadá, Estados Unidos, Italia, etc.This article deals with the necessity of interdisciplinary work on the different disciplines which are trying to find solutions to the bilingual problem of the Catalan-Castilian speaking community. This interdisciplinary work shows that objective solutions based on scientific grounds are necessary and that the psychological point of view is essential for good research. It also includes various aspects of bilingual studies from the psychological point of view of the rest of the westem world. Its most detailed exposition is emphasized, the neuropsychology of bilingualism being one of the most interesting lines of study at the moment. A measure of linguistic dominance of the Catalan language is shown, based on Reaction Time in Verbal Association, for the purpose of leaming the linguistic behavior of S Catalan-Castilian speaking people. This is seen as an essential step towards forming coherent programmes for the general public as well as for the schools. In conclusion, a hypothesis of work for the elaboration of introductory Catalan programmes for Castilian-speaking P children has been presented, based on the immersion programmes developed in Canada, U.S.A., Italy, etc
